Pathophysiology

Zika Virus enters the body through mosquito bites infecting host cells, virus replicates in skin cells spreading to lymph nodes and body bloodstream.

Medical Diagnosis

Tests
PCR tests detect Zika virus in blood, urine, or saliva.
Serological tests identify Zika related antibodies in patient blood samples.

Signs and Symptoms

Headache, muscle pain, malaise.
Fever, rash, joint pain, conjunctivitis.

Treatment

Rest and hydration.
Avoid aspirin and NSAIDs due to bleeding.
Avoid mosquito affected areas.
